Express Yourself “Emotion of Colors”
A complementary masterclass held within the "Expressions" exhibition.
Participants will explore the aesthetic emotional complexities of color and the genres of expressionism and abstract expressionism. Renowned master artist Edvard Munch will serve as an inspiration artist. We will explore color theory and the emotions attached to each color. We will get our creative juices flowing by creating an expressionist acrylic painting. The exercise will showcase the spontaneous fusion of colors and the versatility of acrylic paints. We will then embark on creating artistic expressionism paintings of their own unique designs. Participants will take away a comprehensive understanding of color and completed pieces on canvas that are exhibition-ready!
What will the creatives learn?
Creatives will:
- Learn about color mixing, value, shading, and tones; selected elements and principles of design (color, shape, value, form, and space.)
- Create paintings that demonstrate a purposeful use of the elements and principles of design that are inspired by the iconic artist and art movement of the Nineteenth century.
- Explore painting styles/techniques through a painting of the expressionism technique.
- Learn the characteristics of acrylic paints and discuss the similarities and differences of this medium.
- Demonstrate the ability to portray emotions and personality through their art-making processes.
- Participate in a critique of their peers’ artworks, demonstrating an understanding of the artistic movement and trend in art.
- Through art appreciation use as an inspiration a Nineteenth century artist as art master.
